National data from the Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study (FITS 2016) were used to assess usual nutrient intakes from foods and beverages among US children aged <4 y by WIC participation status. This research suggests that WIC participants have better intakes of several key nutrients that are important for young children’s growth and development, including iron (6-24m), zinc and potassium (6-12m), vitamin D (all ages) and saturated fat (24-48m).
