The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we deliver healthcare services indefinitely in the United States. As one example, telehealth rates have risen by as much as 1400% in healthcare settings. While breastfeeding and lactation support has predominantly taken place in-person, research shows that telelactation offers opportunities to increase access and convenience to breastfeeding support for new parents, increase efficiency, improve outcomes, improve maternal confidence – just to name a few. However, shortcomings exist, such as maternal reluctance, concerns over privacy, and uneven broadband and wifi access. In this webinar, we will describe different case examples of uses of telehealth to support breastfeeding support, including when to use it for what specific need faced by mothers and babies.
