COVID’s Impact on Health Equity and Access to Health & Social Services: A Conversation across the RWJF For Action Programs

January 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 pm

This first-ever Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) For Action panel will feature investigators from the Evidence for Action (E4A), Policies for Action (P4A) and Systems for Action (S4A) research programs discussing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health equity and health and social services. Investigators Julia Raifman (E4A), Jose Figueroa (P4A) and Em Chuang and Naderah Pourat (S4A) will share insights and findings from their RWJF-funded research projects.

COVID-19 has disrupted our nation’s health and social systems. Organizations have had to adapt their priorities and models to continue providing services to meet the immediate and increasingly complex needs of their communities. Operating under unstable conditions within the context of this pandemic has introduced barriers including reductions in workforce, loss in revenue, and complications in providing in-person or virtual services. In addition, the lack of guidance, coordination, and preparedness from local, state, and federal governments means many organizations have had to be reactive rather than proactive.
Furthermore, the pandemic has highlighted existing inequities in our health care, public health, and social systems. Due to structural racism, people of color have been disproportionately impacted.

Join the RWJF For Action Programs as investigators share their learnings on promising innovations to address health inequities and effective stakeholder responses amid a pandemic and beyond, as well as how sectors and stakeholders can work together in future large-scale national emergencies to protect the health of vulnerable populations.
