Come learn about the WIC State Agencies participating in the USDA/Tufts Telehealth Intervention Strategies for WIC (THIS-WIC) grant opportunity and goals for the work. The Vermont (VT) WIC State Agency will also share their experience developing a new telehealth solution in the WIC setting.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded Tufts University a grant to test and evaluate the use of telehealth innovations in the delivery of USDA’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
THIS-WIC selected seven WIC State Agencies through a competitive review process. These projects all leverage innovative telehealth solutions to deliver nutrition education and breastfeeding support to WIC participants to overcome barriers to access, particularly those encountered in rural settings.
VT WIC’s project, led by Project Director Amy Malinowski, involves developing a new game-based app for use during pregnancy and early postpartum weeks to promote breastfeeding knowledge and self-efficacy, with a longer-term goal of supporting breastfeeding outcomes.
The presentation will highlight participating WIC State Agencies’ telehealth solutions and share VT WIC’s path to develop a new telehealth solution.
