Updated every 5 years, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of not just the public but WIC participants as well. Not only do they impact the nutrition education provided to participants but they’re also a part of the science on which the WIC food package is based. Most importantly, the 2020-2025 DGAs are the first iteration to provide recommendations for two life stages not previously addressed – birth through 24 months of age and pregnancy/lactation. Given that these two life stages make up a large portion of the WIC population, this webinar discusses the significant role the DGAs play in WIC and how the most recent iteration will impact the WIC community.
