By Rasmussen K, Pérez-Escamilla R, Baker S

To the Editor

In a Viewpoint article, Ferris et al1 proposed that juice should be eliminated from the food packages offered in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), with “the corresponding funds reallocated to vouchers for fruits and vegetables.”1 They inferred that this could be done by the expert committee charged with reviewing the WIC food packages, whose report will be released “later this year.”
